AVONDALE, Louisiana (May 22, 2022) – After victories at Sonoma last month, Honda continued its strong performance in the 2022 TC America Championship at NOLA Motorsports Park this weekend. Kevin Boehm and Mat Pombo piloted their HPD Honda Civic Type Rs to a 1-2 finish in the SRO TC class Saturday, with Carter Fartuch bringing the all-new 11th-generation Si to victory in the TCA class on Saturday, and a podium finish Sunday.
TC Honda Civic Type R
The third round of the SRO TC America powered by Skip Barber series started with Boehm on the TC class pole in his Skip Barber Racing School HPD Honda Civic Type R. More than half of the race was a battle between Boehm and Clay Williams—with Pombo close behind in the LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Type R. However, mechanical issues ended Williams’ day, and Boehm went on to record his third victory of the series after winning both races at Sonoma.
“There’s only one place up from [our second-place finish in the 2021 championship], so that’s my goal,” Boehm said after Saturday’s race. “We have really good competitors out there, so I know it’s not going to be easy, but our heads are down and we’re working as hard as we can every race.”
Overall, Civic Type R took four of the top five positions in the TC class on Saturday. Pombo finished second in his LA Honda World Civic Type R, Mike Lamarra finished fourth in his LA Honda World’s Type R, and Ruben Iglesias finished fifth in VGRT’s Civic Type R.
Boehm started Sunday’s race on pole, though a yellow flag waved less than two minutes after the race start and lasted nearly 10 minutes. Two minutes after the green flag dropped, Boehm dropped to third and maintained the podium position, with Pombo close behind in fourth. Another yellow flag caused by an off-track excursion lasted for the race’s final 13 minutes.
TCA Honda Civic Si
Carter Fartuch brought Skip Barber Racing School’s all-new 11th-generation HPD Honda Civic Si to its second victory this season on Saturday after reaching first in less than three minutes and holding his ground until the end of the race. Spencer Bucknum raced consistently among the top four positions in his Skip Barber Racing School 10th-generation HPD Honda Civic Si Saturday, finishing on the podium.
Fartuch maintained a podium position on Sunday’s race and Bucknum in fourth, with their progress hampered by extended yellow flags.

The Honda Civic Type R and Civic Si Touring Car teams will head to VIRginia International Raceway in southern Virginia, for Rounds 5 & 6, on June 17 – 19.
