SONOMA, California (April 17, 2022) – The Skip Barber Racing School 11th-generation HPD Honda Civic Si piloted by Carter Fartuch won its debut race at Sonoma in the TCA class, while Kevin Boehm took the team’s HPD Honda Civic Type R to victory on Saturday and Sunday in the TC class in the season-opening rounds of the 2022 SRO Touring Cars America championship.

Heavy rains earlier in the weekend led to several red-flag incidents during qualifying, resulting in Saturday’s grid being set by the second practice session times. A technical penalty dropped Boehm from pole position to a sixth place start in his Skip Barber Racing School Civic Type R. Despite this, Boehm worked his way to the front of the TC class in just 11 minutes and claimed victory in the first race, and a strong start to the season for the Skip Barber Racing School team.

The HPD Civic Type R dominated the first four positions for much of Saturday’s season-opening race. Mat Pombo took second in his LA Honda World Racing Civic Type R, as Civic Type R’s took four of the top five spots in the TC class, with Ken Fukuda and Mike Lamarra placing fourth and fifth, respectively.

On Sunday, Boehm started in second but quickly took the lead, claiming his second win for the weekend after a close battle with Clay Williams for the majority of the race. Pombo followed in third.

Following Wagner was Spencer Bucknum, finishing third in the LA Honda World Racing 10th-gen Honda Civic Si.

On Sunday, Fartuch and Wagner battled for first for more than 10 minutes, but Wagner eventually slipped past on the inside of turn four. Wagner held the lead through the rest of the race, with Fartuch and Bucknum finishing on the podium in second and third, respectively.
